The Moon is Flat
Listen right, we've gotta big ourselves up here, somehow, so here goes:
We're Flat Moon, a fresh and innovative five piece Brit-Funk band based in Leeds, UK. We combine funk, psych rock and the sound of microwavable uncertainty to create the unique B-Funk genre. With an explosive sound and chaotic live shows, we, Flat Moon, are both unmissable and unforgettable. How's that for confidence, ey?
The band formed in early 2019, originally consisting of Jacob Kendrew (lead guitar, vocals), Euan Kneale (drums), Alistair McCarthy (bass, vocals) and Matthew White (guitar, vocals). After playing our first few gigs across the North of England, we were joined by a new fifth member, Alex Woods (vocals, guitar). The lineup has remained unchanged since.
We played our first headline slot in early March, 2020, for a sold-out crowd at Oporto, leading to promoters offering us some more high-profile slots. Tasty. Unfortunately, not long after, the whole world came to a halt.
Whilst in lockdown, we began work on ‘FMTV’, a series of videos ranging from sketch comedy to live covers and music videos. We try to portray characters based on extended versions of ourselves, with ridiculous outcomes; ‘All Platforms’, the first episode of FMTV, sees the band trying to release our first single... in a train station. It's not even funny, it's just daft.
Being a DIY band means that we not only create all of our own content (yes even this stunning website) but we also get the joy of paying for it all.
